The prefecture of Lassithi in Crete offers a number of significant ancient sites and unique beaches. Take a tour of the superb archaeological and historical sites of the Lassithi Prefecture, starting with ruins of the ancient cities of Itanos, Pasiasos, Driros and Lato, as well as the Minoan sites in Zakros, Palekastro, Makrygialos, Gournia, Pachia Ammos and Myrtos. If you are interested in Venetian architecture, we suggest visiting the Fortress “Kazarma” in Sitia and the Kales Fortress in Ierapetra. Another magnificent monument is the Toplou Monastery, with its beautiful frescos. Nature lovers will be impressed by the striking unique Palm Tree Forest in Vai. Hikers and trekkers can explore the Chavga and Cha Gorges, and the Katharos Mountain Range. The Milatos Cave has a breathtaking collection of stalagmites and stalactites. The Lassithi Prefecture provides a variety of wonderful museums in Agios Nikoalos, Ierapetra and Sitia.

On the northern coast of the Lassithi Prefecture, visitors can chose to swim at a variety of beaches, such as Elounda, Plaka, Milatos, Ammoudara, Almyros, Havania, Driros, Pachia Ammos and Sitia. On the eastern shore you will find the beaches of Itanos, Palekastro, Kato Zakros and the renowned Palm Tree Beach in Vai. On the southern side of the prefecture, we recommend visiting the beaches of Xerokambos, Makrygialos, Agia Fotia, Ierapetra and Myrtos. Lastly, dedicate a couple of days to visit the islands of Spinalonga, Chryssi and Koufonissi by tour boat, where you will be rewarded with soft sandy beaches and azure waters.
